The Magic That Is ColourPop

Photos courtesy of ColourPop.com

We recently got our hands on the Ultra Matte Lip products along with their Matte Pencils and were INCREDIBLY impressed with their stuff that we just had to post some love for them.  As you may already know, these Ultra Matte Lip products are made at the same facility as Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits.  We decided to try their lip products because it was exposed that Kylie's Lip Kits were exposed to being watered down to cut back on production costs.  So we just had to try them.

We ordered four different lip colors along with their recommended lip pencils.  This is the one I love the most due to it's shade:

The Matte Lip color is in StingRAYE and the pencil is in Grunge.  The Matte Lip was only $6 and the pencil was $5.  $11 total.

The product lasts all day and no touch ups are needed.  You especially want to follow this because applying it on top of the existing layer could actually start looking muddy once dry.  And then your lips will begin to feel extremely chapped and start chipping off with the touch of a finger.

We were very satisfied.  One swipe was enough to cover your lips.  Let it dry and you'll feel like a million bucks.

Aside from the numerous lip products, they also offer various eye shadows and eyeliners.  Eyeliners and shadows set you back $5/each.  Not bad huh? They also offer eyebrow pencils and pots to define your brows.  And lastly, they offer gel eye liners and pots.  In all  honesty, you should really go to their website to see their various items and fall in love with not only the products but the price.

We ended up buying 4 sets of matte color pencils, lip color, and only spent $41.  Sound like a familiar price?  That's because that's the cost of one lip color kit with Kylie's name on it.

FouFou Cosmetics To Be Tested

If you haven't heard of FouFou Cosmetics, you're not alone.  The founder is a personal friend of mine named Safoura Morovati.  I've known her for quite some years before she launched her cosmetics line.  And because she's a friend and we're always on the search of new products to review, we shot her a message so we can give her products an honest review.

Born in Tehran, Iran, she has always had an eclectic vision for her future.  When she arrived in Southern California, she saw the potential for her success and pursued them.  In the year 2000, she established a love for photography, which eventually led to makeup. She studied cosmetology, completed her certificate requirements, and slowly but surely began having clients which led to return customers and referrals. She majors in makeup but as of 2004, is now an advocate for fitness.

On her website bio she boldly states why she started her own makeup line:

"I decided to create FouFou® Cosmetics because I felt that there currently wasn't a makeup line on the market that portrayed my vision of what makeup should be."

She currently has a small collection of products with the potential for more products to come.  I went on her website and went ahead and ordered some basic products.  Four items with shipping, set me back $100.  Why the big price?  Well, we'll see when we test the products.  Currently, I have 3 girlfriends with different skin tones to try them out and in return, they will be giving me their honest results. Plus it's always nice to try new products.  We're pretty excited to see what FouFou Cosmetics is all about.

Ms. Morovati not only made her own line, but she is an established make-up artist in Hollywood.  She currently "majors" in beautifying bikini clad female body builders.  However, she is up for hire for any occasion at a price.  Her starting price for makeup/hair is $250.  And yes, in case you're wondering, she does work some magic when working on client's hair.  Pictures below will give you a better taste of what she has to offer.

So there you have it ladies and gents, a mini portfolio of FouFou Cosmetics.  Remember if we receive the items this week, we'll be sure to post the reviews from each contributor on the site.  These will be unbiased reviews.  I, unfortunately, am biased so this is why I had to call on my contributors to help me out with this "experiment".  Be sure to stay tuned as I'm sure we will see nothing but great things from Ms. Morovati or dare I say FouFou.

Rainbow/Normal Hair Trend

OMBRE HAIR/ RAINBOW HAIR/ PARTIAL RAINBOW

The newest trend is no longer pure rainbow hair.  As if it would've ever made it to my town.  However, here's a trend that might be do-able without being called "emo", "grunge", or "weird".
The newest trend is mixing your natural hair with some rainbow strands.

So now you might be liking the concept, here are some more styles that actually look great!

These were my personal favorites because when you decide to rainbow color your hair, you don't have to fully commit.  If you want to start with just a few strands, do so.  Then proceed, if you're digging it.

Becca Cosmetics, Beautiful You

BECCA COSMETICS IS MY NEW HERO

Two months ago, I visited Sephora in the mall to look for a new foundation that will give great coverage, but not feel so heavy.  I had a small makeover that prompted me to buy their Becca Ultimate Coverage foundation.  It cost me $44.

Before wearing Becca, I was wearing MAC's Studio Fix which was great except I didn't feel the color was right since my face is a darker tan but my neck and chest are two separate colors that are lighter.  I was so happy the beautician noticed this as no other one I worked with did.  So now I'm in love with the product.  I also had a issue with the T-zone shine I would get hours after doing my makeup.  But I'll write about what fixed that in another post.

It covers all your flaws and leaves you with a professional, beautiful look.

I also use Becca Ultimate Coverage foundation with Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream contour kit.

Becca Cosmetics also offers a wide variety of makeup, such as bronzers, shadow palettes, and color correctors.

Did I forget to mention their awesome blushes?

Here are their swatches for Becca Ultimate Coverage foundation.

Here are more fans wearing Becca Cosmetics.

So where can you find Becca Cosmetics?  Mostly at Ulta, Sephora, and any other misc beauty store who stocks various brands.

I know it may seem like a steep price just for foundation but one must remember, it's FOUNDATION.  This is the base of your face.  This is what compliments your most looked at features.  And if you're already paying almost $30 for foundation from other retailers, $44 isn't too bad.  Also remember that these are the types of makeup you should only wear when going out somewhere special like on a date, a night out in Hollywood, or anywhere pictures are taken.  This will make your supply last.

Also when I use the foundation, I only put one pump of makeup on my hand and that's really all you need.  That's another great thing about this makeup, the foundation has such a great consistency that all you need is a small amount, a brush, and possibly a MAC Fix + spray to moisten the brush and make it cover the entire face with that one pump.  As always do not forget to use a finishing powder and you're set.  Of course, include your special touches of eye shadows, liner, lip color, and blush.  I promise you will fall in love with this product.

You Can't Just Slap Your Name On It!!!

(Above are the swatches of lip color that put ColourPop in comparison to Kylie's Lip Kit)

Go with ColourPop, it's just been proven the same lab that Kylie Jenner uses, is Spatz Laboratories, which also makes ColourPop.  Point is: The new formulated formula by Kylie Jenner, is watered down.  ColourPop's formula is the original formula.  Don't spend $40 for one product, when you can pay $43 for 4 lip kits from ColourPop.

My Main FB Post RE: Kylie Jenner Lip Kits
Okay so a lot of you have seen my recent posts about Kylie Jenner's Lip Kit. My job is to bring beauty news to the public. I'm updating you on the latest trends, flops, and so fourth in regards to makeup and fashion.

Last night before I went to bed, I was alerted to the breaking news that this product, that at one point sold out in a day, was actually a watered down version of ColourPop's products. What is ColourPop? It's a brand that is manufactured in our lovely city of Oxnard at Spatz Laboratories. They have a great selection of makeup at a much cheaper price. I personally ordered the comparable lip products. The price was $11 for two things, a matte lip color and matching lip pencil. I ordered what amounts to 4 "lip kits" and only paid $47 with tax and shipping included.

The beauty blogger, Stephanie Nicole, actually tried both products and compared the ingredients. They were exactly the same!!! This is a blogger who is a makeup enthusiast and she's been one online for a while now. She even has a youtube channel. However, now that they are in mass production, Kylie's version is now thinner (watered down) than the original product. At this point, ColourPop's version is better quality for a much better price.

So what exactly is happening with the money difference in price? It's not being applied towards product development or better ingredients. It's estimated the difference of $19/kit is going directly into Kylie Jenner's bank account. The consumer is pretty much paying $19 more for a 18 year old's name on their product.

Am I wrong for reporting this? No. People should be informed. Her target audience is around her age. So if you are or know of a beauty enthusiast who has been waiting for Kylie products, stop waiting and just go to ColourPop.

Since this report, news has been catching on in the last 24 hrs. My projection is that sales will begin to fall and that either the Jenner chick will be forced to stop production or relocate to another "lab". Nobody should pay $40 for lip color. It's just ridiculous. I recommend sharing this post with your FB friends to detour sales. However, if people insist on paying so much for this stuff, by all means. Just don't bitch about it later.

ColourPop vs Kylie Lip Kits

What's The Better Deal AND Better Quality?

As you already know, the Kylie Lip Kits are the exact same if not worse than ColourPop's version.  If you read the last article I wrote about this, we learned that Kylie Jenner has her product manufactured at the same lab as ColourPop.  I couldn't believe how overly priced her items were as they weren't even worth it.

So I went ahead and placed an order on ColourPop's website for the lip kits.  One thing you need to know is that their items are itemized, so no real kits.  Just recommendations of what lip pencil goes with the color of the ultra matte lip color.  Either way you only pay $11 for both items.

http://www.colourpop.com

As you can see, I ordered a few "kits".  I ended up paying $47.30 in the end for 4 LIP KITS.  Kylie Jenner charges $40 for one lip kit.  Doesn't take a genius to figure out what's a better deal.  And since we just found out that Kylie's Lip Kits are "watered down", you get a better product with ColourPop.

Remember when everyone was doing multi-color hair?  Fret not, because now we got rainbow brows!!!

Yes this is the newest trend going around and it looks "so fetch".
